Joshua Tree National Park - APRIL 2024

Been a while since I was out on the Goldwing.. Actually several years.  The bike was layed up in my Garage, while I was searching an electrical problem.  One thing led to another and then next think I know it's been years.  Well, time to get back to living.

Traveled out to the So Calif Desert and headed to Joshua Tree National Park.  It's so close to Huntington Beach.... Less than 150 miles from the Beach.  Traveled out on a Tuesday and made the trip in less than 3 hours.  Headed to 29 Palms to the Motel 6.  I do live quite luxuriously, don't you know.  I've stayed there before and it is very convenient to the National Park....

Headed to the Park on Wednesday, took all of the paved roads... Weather was perfect springtime, mid-week not too many tourists.  The Park was lovely.  Rock formations are incredible... lots of folks visit to practice rock -boulder climbing.  The Joshua trees are interesting.... even after they have died and their bleached trunks lay in the sun.  There is a grove of Chollo Cactus, I think that is the name.... man those are some of the most aggressive thorns on planet earth.  When you get too close they seem to jump on to your skin.... and not let go.  The pictures are below.... the Vista from the 1000 foot viewpoint back into the Palm Springs Valley is stunning.  Look closely to the pictures you can see the famous windmill farm at the valley entrance.
